This "saishyoku" (colorful glaze) Bizen water jar was recently
displayed at the first Paramita Museum Ceramic Art Grand Prize Exhibition.
Although representing just one aspect of the ever-expanding world of Abe
Anjin's ceramics, this new "color" series gives a strong impression
of the depth of "Abe Art." When I first saw this piece, sometime
before the Paramita exhibition, I was immediately struck by it. Recalling
on one hand the splendor and brilliance of the Momoyama period, it also
makes one the feel the moment of encounter with a New Bizen; it was like
being struck by a lighting bolt! Although one part of me would like to
say that it is "not for sale," we are indeed honored to be able
offer such a special, museum quality piece to our customers. Highly recommended!
